About me
It’s been a long haul on the road all these years, the constant touring, the hotels, the time spent on the bus, forgetting which town I’m in or which airport. And there’s the food, some alright and some downright bad, and always not home cooked. I guess doing it for two weeks at a time and then coming home for two weeks helps though, it allows time for recuperation and time for creativity from another place besides what’s found on the road. Yes, it’s not necessarily an easy life as a traveling musician....
Oh, wait a minute, excuse me, I think I got lost in a parallel universe there for a moment. Actually I guess it’s all the same as I could have been rambling on about my day job. Way back some 33 years ago , my folks gave me my first guitar, and within a few years after that I became interested in flying machines. Airplanes and helicopters.
It seemed like an enjoyable way to make a living and so I first became an aircraft mechanic and over the years ended up flying airplanes and helicopters for a living, and it still remains my day job.
The guitar was always around somewhere and over the years I’d pick it up and play around with the music of John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, John Prine and on and on...
Over the last ten years or so I’ve gotten more serious with putting in some real effort with the guitar and have gravitated to composing original fingerstyle tunes. My influences have been Leo Kottke, Laurence Juber, Tommy Emmanuel, Guy Van Duzer , Pierre Bensusan and quite a few others. I’ve stolen licks and ideas from all of them.
Oh yeah, back to that parallel universe... I think that’s what I’ll do in my next life-a traveling musician, but until then I think I’ll record at home and do some gigs here and there.
About The Journey is the culmination of my creative efforts thus far and I continue to compose new tunes and am working on my next project. Stay tuned!
I hope you enjoy the music!
